Chaturmukha Dharana Vihara also known as Ranakpur Jain temple is located in Ranakpur village near Sadri town Rajasthan, is dedicated to tirthankara Rishabhanatha.The construction of temple was started by local Jain business person named Darna Shah. The construction of the temple was started in the 15th century by following divine vision. Ranakpur Jain temple includes many temples such as Chaumukha Temple, Surya temple, Amba temple and Suparshvanatha temple.

History of the temple

The temple consists of inscriptions in the language Sanskrit, it is inspired by Darna shah's dream of a celestial vehicle. The construction of the temple lasted for about 50 years and also there were 2785 workers involved in the construction. Rana Kumbha supported the construction of the temple and also the temple is named after him.

Architecture

The temple has three storeys. It is constructed right across the extensive base of 48,000 sq. ft. rising 102 ft. There are 29 halls and 84 idols present; the arches of the temple are made of soft Gray marble. There are 4 doors that lead to 4 chambers that altogether lead to the main hall. Each pillar of the temple has something unique. The architecture has been done in a way that allows clear sight of the Idol Adinath. There are also floral designs on each of the pillars; these designs depict animals and heroes. The most interesting feature here is that the pillars change their colour from Golden to pale blue every changing hour.
