History about the temple

The Jain temple was built in the fifteenth century by a group of precious stone dealers from Karnataka. It was made by Inchana Satur. The temple was in a broken down condition for as long as a few years.   Around then, there were around 400 Jain families in Jainimedu. The sanctuary was remodeled in 2013 and a Panch Kalyanak was performed. M. P. Veerendra Kumar, a conspicuous Keralite Jain, talked at the event. The ceremonies were driven by Bhuvanakeerthi Bhattakara Swamiji, the head of Kanakagiri Jain Mutt.This is one of only a handful of places in Kerala where the remnants of Jainism in Kerala have survived.  The temple is 32 feet in length and 20 feet wide and shows the pictures of Jain Tirthankaras and Yakshinis.

About the temple

Jainimedu Jain temple is a fifteenth century Jain temple situated at Jainimedu,.  It is 3 km from the focal point of Palakkad, Palakkad region, Kerala, India. It is devoted to Chandraprabha, a Tirthankar of the Jain faith.  The observed Malayalam artist Kumaranasan, composed his great sonnet Veenapoovu at a Jain house close here. The spot name 'Jainimedu' itself is identified with this temple.
