History of the temple
Taranga turned into a significant Jain journey site in the 12th century. In Kumarapala Pratibodha of Somaprabhacharya, created in Vikram Samvat 1241. The neighborhood Buddhist ruler Veni Vatsaraja and Jain priest Khaputacharya had constructed a temple for goddess Tara and along these lines the town has got the name Tarapur. The slope is generally covered with brushwood and woods on the east and west. Then gone across by a street that led to a level where the sanctuaries worked of white sandstone and block. The primary temple was worked by Chaulukya lord Kumarapal in 1143 - 1174 after he turned into a supporter of Jainism under his educator Acharya Hemchandra.
About the temple
Taranga temple is situated in mehsana district, Gujarat. There are 14 svetambara temples and 5 digambara temples. The main deity is 2.75 m with white marble figure of Ajitnath. He was the second Tirthankara situated in the temple, adorned with valuable stones left in the marble. The highlights wear the standard articulation of profound rest or calm clandestine disdain. On the correct hand side of the temple, there are impressions of Rishabha and of the 20 Tirthankaras and on the left hand side, there are a temple of Gaumukha, the Samavasarana, and the Jambudvipa painting. On the external foundation of the primary temple, there are icons of Padmavati and Kumarapala himself. Digambara temple: There are 14 digambara temples in the down of the hill. There are two hills, one is Kotshila and the other one is siddhashila. There are two holy places in the mountain Nemitha and Malinath.
