Bhagwan Parshwanath Digamber Jain Temple

History about the temple

The temple is accepted to have been built by a conspicuous Jain family somewhere in the range of 950 and 970 century, during the rule of the Chandela lord Dhanga.  A 954 century engraving on the left door frame of the temple records blessings and enrichments of nurseries by one Pahila. The nurseries are named Pahila-vatika, Chandra-vatika, Laghuchandra-vatika, Shankara-vatika, Panchaitala-vatika, Amra-vatika and Dhanga-vadi. The engraving portrays Pahila as a lover of Jinanatha and states that he was held in extraordinary regard by the ruler Dhanga.  The soonest icon revered in the sanctuary seems to have been that of Adinatha. At the point when the British archeological assessor Alexander Cunningham visited in 1852, he found the principle sanctum abandoned. He depicted it as "Jinanatha temple" and composed that it had been fixed by a Jain broker in 1847. In 1860, a Parshvanatha icon was introduced in the primary sanctum. An Adinatha sculpture was set in an auxiliary altar joined to the back of the temple.  The temple has been named a Monument of National Importance by the Archeological Survey of India.

About the temple

Parshvanatha temple is a tenth century Jain temple at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is currently committed to Parshvanatha, in spite of the fact that it presumably worked as an Adinatha hallowed place during the Chandela time frame. Notwithstanding the temple’s Jain alliance, its outside dividers include Vaishnavite subjects. The passageway has an engraving with an absolute best sorcery square. It is essential for an UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside different temples in the Khajuraho Group of Monuments.
